Greystones

Location: Orangeville, Ontario. Canada

The interior design of Greystones was a natural evolution, a new addition that needed to marry the existing historical form, not to outshine but to provide a symbiotic built environment. The existing stone building on the corner of Broadway and 3rd Street remains untouched allowing its history to shine. A pathway carves through a clean and contemporary landscape to a garden-inspired shed that is home to Greystones Cafe, a local coffee and bake shop.

The interiors became a natural reflection of the exterior. The historic stone is kept intact and revived throughout. The addition houses the main lounge with a large glass atrium showcasing custom sprawling lighting with an elegant contemporary design, while still embodying warmth and local charm through its vintage inspired finishes and furnishings.

The historical portion of the building keeps to its original layout with the main dining room on the ground floor characterizing the warmth of a close friend’s living room neighboured by a bright a cozy solarium for an intimate dining experience. Moving through to upstairs via the central wooden staircase, is the rustic dining lounge which caters to both a la carte and large party dining experience. The rustic and antique characteristics of this space are surrounded by custom botanical inspired art giving the space its unique charm.
