SDC is seeking a talented Intermediate Designer experienced in hospitality and commercial design to join the team. What will you do? The firm depends on the Intermediate Designer to carry out projects under the supervision of the Lead Designer. This is an opportunity to contribute to extremely creative projects from concept to completion. The Intermediate Designer will collaborate with their colleagues to design, execute and deliver great projects and where provided, develop excellent client relationships. He or she will be required to model and design concepts confidently to deliver visualizations that are clear and impactful.
Role and responsibilities: Design
- Collaborate and generate design concepts and direction alongside the Creative Director
- Strive for design impact, innovation and function
- Participate in the development of approaches, concepts and designs that exceed clientexpectations
- Manage the design process from concept to construction
- Create renderings and presentations that attract and inspire clients and team members
- Develop a strong mastery of appropriate construction techniques
- Develop high-quality schematic plans, models and drawing sets that are clear,comprehensive and consistent
- Maintain project concept within budget and time constraints
- Strive to reduce rework, errors and omissions
- Development and/or sourcing of furniture, fixture and material specifications
- Bending, lifting and carrying samples up to a max of 40 lbs.
- Produce detailed construction documents as related to interiors
- Create 2D and 3D renderings for presentationsManagement
- Demonstrate excellent personal time management – capable of working effectively, especially when multiple project deadlines are near
- Lead, mentor and develop design teams
- Exhibit detail oriented project management skills
- Creation and management of project workback schedules
- Manage overall project budget to ensure the firm is staying on time, on budgetLeadership
- Contribute to the design dialogue in the firm
- Lead, motivate and communicate with all other team members to ensure projects areon time and on budget
- Contribute to the development of systems and processes for improved design,technical quality and/or client service
- Create sound relationships with clients, contractors and suppliers to promote repeatbusiness
Required skills
- Your ideas can be communicated through a variety of methods including verbal, written, sketches, 3D perspectives and AutoCAD
- Self initiative and detailed follow through
- Advanced experience in complex custom detailing
- With an ability to work on multiple projects, schedule and meet deliverables, you also have the ability to detail the design to allow for co-ordination, accurate pricing and construction
