The interior design of Watercolour is a warm and welcomed addition to the Main Street, located in a 1836 carriage house situated in historic Unionville. The restaurant holds a concept rooted in Mediterranean influence with an ode to the history of the building. You are welcomed into the space through a 2-story arched glazed opening, and are immediately greeted with the bar and a custom sculptural light feature that draws your eye up to the double height opening.
Working your way through the space to the main floor dining, the original beams are left exposed and in their glory. The custom parging finish on the walls adds texture and lightness to the space, and creates a glowing transition to the brick above. Regardless of where you sit, the interaction with the rich green bespoke kitchen is front and centre, whether it be the scallop backed banquette or chef’s seats, the food is the final brush stroke on this picturesque space. The central staircase has a classic raw wood approach inspired by the cliffside pathways through coastal towns.
The second level space has a large soft floating arch ceiling that hovers over the dining room that is wrapped with a rich soft blue banquette, juxtaposed by the hand wrapped rope back detail on the chairs. The custom wine fridge is a central feature in the upper dining room that defines the space and adds that emphasis on the carefully crafted wine list. On the other side of the custom pottery displays, sit the best seats in the house.The balcony level seating balcony gives you great sightlines to the bar below, watching each crafted cocktail be made on the unique quartz clad bar. The custom ceramic light fixtures throughout were hand crafted locally and inspired by the beach combed treasures found in the coastal Mediterranean.
